- 9/11 We Will Never Forget
Eleven years later I can still remember that morning like it was yesterday. I was moving into a new house and knee deep in boxes and the usual chaos. The day seemed simple enough.
I had just brought in another load when a friend called frantically asking if I had heard about “the plane that flew into the trade center.” Instantly my heart went out, poor guy!
I assumed an innocent small airplane pilot had lost control and mistakenly flew into the buildings. As I considered weather conditions, faulty instruments, or even- worse yet- a suicide attempt, I said a silent prayer for his family and hoped no one else was hurt.
“No Heather! It was a BIG plane! They think it might be terrorists!” I was dumbfounded, why would terrorists do that? HOW could they do that? It made no sense? As I finally found access to the news the blood curdling images came flooding in.
Women and children running down the smoke filled streets eyes full of terror. Grown men weeping uncontrollably crouched down next to the rumble. The piercing screams of the ambulance and fire truck sirens. The aftermath was beyond overwhelming and seemed so surreal.
It just didn’t make sense?
Like everyone else, I was transfixed to the news and anxious for any tidbit that would help me understand. Those tidbits never came, and as the death toll rose so did my fears for my country and my children’s safety. Is this the world we live in?
My only consolation was hearing the stories of the heroes that bravely rushed in when everyone else was rushing out. How the passengers of Flight 93 willingly gave their lives to spare others. The men and women that enlisted to fight back against the terrorists. Seeing how our country rallied together to protect our freedom against these unspeakable threats was empowering.
It is only during adversity that we learn our true strength. September 11th is no different. “We will never forget” that symbolic day as it serves as a badge of our country’s courage.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those we lost and heartfelt condolences to the families whose lives were changed forever. God Bless.

On my way to the office. I can still remember the suit and tie I was wearing.
Mario Fiaschi Wow…that’s powerful.
Heather Actually I remember. Back then I had a Driver his name is Joel and was driving me to the office while reading NYT (Ironic) and listening to NBC news also Ironic. And listening to the guy on the radio getting pretty Scared and Nervous. I got so Upset that Joel the Driver told me You want me to take you back home?? I said no lets go to the Office. And everyone I mean everyone was watching the news on CNN. No one talked, No one spoke for Hours!! And there was also on the news a police Chase in Atlanta some Nutbag on a Semi running away from the cops couple of hours after all this freaking mess. Buon´Anima to all the victims. Worst day ever.
