- Mom FASHION: Can Madonna's Material Girl line work for MOMS?
I’m back from a quickie NYC fashion trip and I just happened to catch the frenzy over Madonna’s Material Girl launch at Macy’s. The scene was packed with die-hard fans, 80′s fashion inspiration, and the best of Madonna blasting on the speakers non-stop.
My take? I think Macy’s and the Material Girl did a fabulous job of bringing some ultra-sassy fashion forward pieces to the masses at some NOT so sassy prices. While not ALL the pieces are mom-friendly, there are some great key pieces that can make an otherwise boring ensemble become surprisingly chic.
Outfit #1:
Yes, this looks a little scary for me…either I’m trying out for Peggy Bundy’s part in a Married with Children… remake or just REALLY confused. BUT, pair the dress with black tights, a soft black mockneck, and some half booties and POOF! … your ready for a fall cocktail party. If you find something that speaks to you, there’s always a way to make it work in real life. Have no fear!
Outfit #2:
I fell in love with this skirt! It’s a de-stressed black A-line skirt covered front to back in bronzed dome studs. A perfect accent piece for any fall wardrobe! The problem? The sales girl picked a shirt for me
that must have been grabbed from the “Village People” aisle two racks over. (Yes, that’s my belly-not a shirt underneath. Sigh.)
No worries, there’s an easy fix! I had actually first seen the skirt in the fashion window out front, and guess what? They NAILED it in a wardrobe any hip mom would adore. Here’s the sassy, but not so sleazy version here…
Outfit #3:
With all the Back to School buzz it’s hard to not fall for this sporty and sexy cropped letterman jacket. I grabbed this jacket for a couple reasons…it’s tailored with an ultra flattering fit and made quite well (hard to find in
jackets like this) …plus I love using pieces like this to blur the line between sporty and glam. I paired the jacket with a comfy vintage t-shirt, bright pink tiered satin skirt, and some worn slip-on Converse Chuck Taylor’s. It’s a great day to night outfit that shows you’re read for anything life throws your way! Now that’s glamaPOWER.
Hope you like the line review and let me know your thoughts! See any pieces you loved?
